Friday 14th August, Marcos Magical Mystery Tour

So What Are Your Plans For Friday?

Our fantastic weekend celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Marcos kicks off on the morning of Friday 14th August with something to grab the attention of people of absolutely all ages and all interests.

The Marcos Mystery Tour

We suspect that most people driving to the Prescott area for the weekend probably don't know that part of England very well, so what better way to see some of the local attractions than to follow a pre-prepared route in the company of fellow Marcos enthusiasts? It is not a race, there is nothing competitive, just an enjoyable drive through very pleasant countryside.

Our tour will take in some truly stunning scenery, visit traditional attractions and a few places a little off the beaten track in-so-far as even some of the locals don't know about them. Don't worry, we believe the whole route is Marcos Friendly with no speed bumps or the like.

If you are planning to come along on the Friday, then whether you live in the UK or elsewhere, you will probably be arriving via the M5 motorway. To make things easy for you, we have provided a choice of two separate start points for our Marcos Mystery Tour.

Both start points will be open from 10am until 12 noon to allow flexible start times. When you arrive at either one of them you can buy anything from a coffee to a full English cooked breakfast, just in case your hungry

Remember, you decide which Start Point and you also decide your own start time.

Start Point One For those driving down from the Midlands, the north of England, Scotland or North Wales, the start point you should aim for is

St Peter's Garden Centre, Norton Road, Broomhall, Worcester, WR5 2NY

Tel 01905 357 595

Directions
Leave the M5 motorway at junction 7 and head north on the A44 towards Worcester. At the next roundabout (some 500 metres) turn left onto the A4440. At the next roundabout, less than a mile, turn left into Norton Road. When you reach the next roundabout take the second exit and St Peter's Garden Centre is on your left. As you enter the car park simply look for the Marcos flag or banner, make your way there and 'sign in'.

Start Point Two

For those driving from anywhere in the south of England, the cross-channel ferry ports or South Wales, the start point you should aim for, which is quite close to Prescott, is<

Little Chef, Ashchurch Road, Tewkesbury, GL20 8JN

Tel 01684 850 270

Directions
leave the M5 motorway at junction 9 and head towards Evesham on the A46. Almost immediately on your right is the Little Chef. As you enter the car park simply look for the Marcos flag or banner, make your way there and 'sign in'.

If you are driving from anywhere else, you decide.

When you first check in you will be supplied with the full route, comprehensive directions and details of the places you will be visiting.

Late Afternoon

By late afternoon we should all be congregating at a very pleasant venue hidden away in the Cotswolds. We can't give you too much information at this stage as it is the Marcos Mystery Tour, but suffice to say it's strongly believed to be the only one of it's kind in the whole of Britain.

we expect that around this time, those people with hotels and evening meals already reserved will gradually drift away and probably get lost as they will no longer have the benefit of detailed directions, but for the rest of us, the evening beckons...

Early Evening

We make our way to a 15th century black and white pub and restaurant to round off the day. As it dates from the year 1473 it is probably even older than Jem Marsh. We will all be able to enjoy a meal and talk about all things Marcos. Directions from the finishing point of our Marcos Mystery Tour will be included in your route pack.

However, for the benefit of those who were unable to join us during the day, but wish to do so in the evening, the place you should aim for is

Ye Olde Hobnails Inn, Little Washbourne, Nr Tewkesbury, GL20 8NQ

Tel 01242 620 237

Directions

Leave the M5 motorway at junction 9 and head towards Evesham on the A46. Continue on this road for about 3 miles until you reach a roundabout at the junction with the A435 and the B4077. Turn onto the B4077 towards Toddington, taking care not to confuse this with the nearby village of Teddington, and you will find Ye Olde Hobnails Inn about 1.5 miles along here on the left hand side. Tell the people behind the bar that you are with the Marcos group and they will direct you to the area we have reserved. Their early evening carvery at just £5 comes highly recommended, but a full menu, including a nice selection of vegetarian dishes is available.
